16-inch Softball is a Chicago Tradition, played almost exclusively at the parks of the Windy City. If you live in Chicago, you play. That’s just the rule. I didn’t make the rules. We don’t use mitts. We have broken fingers. We drink beer under huge signs that say, ‘No alcohol allowed’. We slide on gravel and have bloody legs all summer. It’s all a rite of passage as a Chicagoan.
